Heartburn or Acid reflux

Tomatoes are acidic by nature.  Consuming too many tomatoes can bring about esophageal regurgitation, also called acid reflux or heartburn.  It is a nagging burning sensation in the chest region.  Eating spicy, oily, or fatty foods also produce heartburn.  If you experience any heartburn or acid reflux for over a week or two, it could be GERD (gastrointestinal reflux disease).  Consult your doctor.

Phytochemical lycopene is an antioxidant found in tomatoes.  It helps your body remove free radicals which are otherwise harmful.   But excess of lycopene is not good for your body.   It underplays the body’s immune mechanism, especially when you get bacterial or fungal infection.
