It’s all written on your face! From eating junk food to how you smoke and drink – your looks reveal your lifestyle. Like they say face is the mirror of your mind, we would like to yell “face is the mirror of your health.”

Your face reveals your personality and is a road map of your mind and health. The different parts of your face reveal the status of your health. Let us see how those parts correlate with different organs of the body and their healthiness.
Facial diagnosis is not an absolute science, but it could certainly point you in the direction of a healthier lifestyle.

The Forehead
The forehead relates to your mind, spirit, heart, and the small intestine. Look out for changes like:
- Redness and discoloration of small blood vessels. It suggests some heart problem.
- Paleness of the forehead skin. It suggests emotional extremes, like the loss of a loved one.
- The furrow between the eyebrows. It suggests worry.
- Eyebrows that disappear at the end. This reveals a thyroid dysfunction.
- A bluish-green hue on the forehead. This sign, in combination with other symptoms (such as dizziness, shortness of breath, and heart palpitations) can foretell a heart attack.
The Nose
The nose relates to your stomach, pancreas and spleen. Look out for:
- Puffiness around the nostrils. It denotes congestion of the lungs and too much mucus formation.
- Pimples on the tip or side of the nose. They indicate the intake of spicy foods in recent meals and the occurrence of constipation or diarrhea and indigestion. They also signify too much or too little activity in the stomach and the intestines.
- Redness of the bridge. It reveals that an individual is worried or stressed. It also reflects the possibility of a hangover from too much alcohol consumption and even hypothermia (lowered body temperature).
The Chin
Chin is associated with the hormonal system, kidneys, and the urinary system including the bladder and the ureter (thick-walled tubes that carry urine from the kidney to the urinary bladder). Watch out for:
- Recurrent pimples or acne on the chin. This can be a sign of hormonal imbalance, prostrate problems, and menstrual irregularities.
- Blemishes or dark patches around the chin and mouth. They represent a problem with the bladder or kidneys.
Left Cheek
It represents the liver and gall bladder. Beware of:
- Red, bulging veins. They represent anger or sometimes high blood pressure.
- Yellowish coloration or paleness of skin under left eye. It represents gall stones or elevated cholesterol levels, specifically the triglycerides.

Other Common Manifestations & Their Management
Lines on the forehead. This may indicate digestive issues. They can be combated by drinking warm water mixed with lemon juice first thing every morning.
Ageing lines. Ageing lines around the mouth is mostly caused by smoking. The effects can be lessened by regularly applying lip balm.
Itchy ears. They are often the sign of an allergy or low tolerance. Psoriasis and eczema here are signs that the person is depleted in vitamin D. Ten minutes with the arms and face exposed will give the body vital sunshine and plenty of vitamin D.
Pimples on the forehead. This could indicate internal symptoms of problems with the liver and stomach congestion. Drink plenty of water to flush out any toxins. You should also eat more liver-friendly foods, such as leafy green vegetables. Cut out processed foods and caffeine.
Dark circles under eyes. Dark circles that persist despite regular, restful, and sufficient sleep may be a result of food intolerances. Sufferers should remove dairy and wheat from their diet and see if the dark circles lighten. Another culprit is alcohol — even in moderate amounts, this can cause dark circles.
Acne around jaw line. Estrogen is a friend to our skin, suppressing sebaceous activity. But when levels reduce as women get older, skin lacks luster and you may experience acne cysts deep in the dermis and commonly found on the jaw line and hairline. Try eating apricots, mushrooms, sweet potatoes, and mangoes as they all contain vitamin A to normalize the production and life cycle of skin cells.
Pronounced frown line. A pronounced frown line between the eyes shows the liver is under pressure. Environmental and emotional factors or allergy to foods can also cause the problem. Try gently massaging the brow area with circular moves.
Dry lips. Dry lips show possible internal dehydration, vitamin B and iron deficiency. Check with your GP and drink plenty of water.
Note that the above points are only for reference, they should not be interpreted as medical advice. You should consult your physician for any problem you may be facing.
Next time you see your face in the mirror, go a little deeper than just observing your looks and measuring the degrees of ageing. It has a lot more to tell you, beyond how great you are looking. Look for specific signs and interpret the signals your body is sending you.
