EHC discusses the factors which cause hair loss and baldness.

Poor dietary habits

A diet poor in essential nutrients cause hair loss and eventually balding.  A wholesome diet that comprise of adequate protein, vitamins, and minerals will suppress the hormone DHT (dihydrotestosterone) production.  Excessive secretion of DHT results in male pattern baldness.

A healthy diet for hair growth

Consume lean meat to get adequate amounts of iron and zinc; eggs, soy, almonds, and chicken for protein; oily fish like sardine and salmon for omega-3 to keep your hair smooth and silky, and vitamin D.

Life stressors

Stress is an integral part of your daily life, but excess stress is harmful, both for the hair as well as the overall health of your body.  Too much stress can trigger hair loss and even baldness.

Manage your stress

Practice relaxation techniques, meditation, keep yourself active, exercise regularly, and talk it out with your friends.

Genetics

Genetic factors trigger excessive secretion of DHT hormones to which hair follicles are very sensitive and this triggers rapid hair loss.  The trait can be inherited from the mother’s or father’s side of the family.  This type of hair loss can result in male pattern baldness or androgenetic alopecia.

Smoking

Your hair needs oxygen to thrive and it is supplied by your oxygen-rich blood.  Smoking negates it.  It reduces the level of oxygen supply to your hair and weakens the follicles which lead to hair loss. Smoking cessation is another way that helps prevent hair loss.

Chronic illness

Baldness can be caused by diseases of the thyroid, scalp infection, and alopecia areata.

NOTE:  Frequent use of hair straighteners and electric curlers can also trigger hair loss.
