Expectant Mothers – What foods to eat to get a fair baby?
If you are an expectant mother, probably you are aware that the food choices you make do impact your unborn baby’s physical and mental development.
If food choices you make while you are pregnant impact your child’s growth physically and mentally, then would it impact your baby’s complexion?
This is a frontline question that poses in front of all the expectant mothers. To know the answer, read on…..
Research has proven that a child’s complexion is a mixture of his/her parent’s skin color, but there is a strong belief among Indians that consuming certain foods during pregnancy do enhance the skin color of your unborn child. Even though we don’t endorse this belief, we will cite here few foods that are believed to help an expectant mother get a fair-skinned baby.
The food choices you could rely on:
Saffron (Crocus Sativus) is a rare and exotic spice. It is richly laden with folates, vitamin A and C. Consuming saffron milk during pregnancy is believed to improve the complexion of your baby.
Oranges are believed to improve your baby’s complexion during pregnancy due to the presence of a good and rich source of vitamin C.
Milk is a rich source of calcium, carbohydrate, water, protein, vitamins, minerals, and minor biological proteins like lactoferrin and lactoperoxidase which are essential during pregnancy. Hence, consuming milk during pregnancy not only helps the physical and mental development of your baby but also enhances your baby’s skin colour and tone.
Eggs are packed with nutrients such as protein, fats, and minerals. Also, they are rich in zinc, selenium, Vitamin A, D, and B which are very much needed during the time of pregnancy. Consuming eggs during the second trimester of pregnancy is believed to get you a fair-skinned baby.
After three months into pregnancy, drinking a glass of ripe pineapple juice at least once a week is believed to enhance your baby’s complexion.
Lemon juice with Honey
Drinking this combination during pregnancy not only balances your vitamin deficiencies but also enhances the complexion of your baby.
Tuna, salmon, and sardines are deep sea fishes and are rich in Omega-3. Omega-3 essential fatty acids enhance your baby’s skin elasticity as well as complexion during pregnancy.
Cherries and Berries
Strawberries, blackberries, cherries, and bilberries etc., are antioxidant powerhouses. Consuming them during pregnancy not only neutralizes free radical damages in your cells but is also believed to help enhance your baby’s complexion.
Almonds are considered the epitome of health as they are packed with a rich source of protein, vitamins and minerals like potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc, and selenium. Consuming dried and soaked almond nuts during pregnancy helps in the overall development of your baby as well as improves the skin tone and complexion of your baby.
A note to remember: To bring forth a healthy baby into this world, all expectant mothers must consume a well-balanced diet that includes a variety of fruits and vegetables as well as fluids to keep oneself hydrated.
